Is it true that the Costco membership fee will be waived once when the member buys over a certain amount of merchandise from Costco?

I heard that once when a member buys over $5,000 worth of goods, the membership fee will be waived. Is this true?Is it true that the Costco membership fee will be waived once when the member buys over a certain amount...?
It's definitely not true. My parents own a restaurant and spend way more than that monthly at Costco and Sam's Club. They still have to pay the membership fee annually. Is it true that the Costco membership fee will be waived once when the member buys over a certain amount...?
Not true. Your $50 or $100 membership fee is non-refundable.
