Is it true that you have to write a letter to cancel your gym membership?

I need to cancel my membership with bally total fitness. Is it true that you have to write a letter to cancel your gym membership?
Yes, believe it or not it's every gym. But if what you're saying is true and you have a national access membership that is month to month than yes you can cancel just by writing a letter. I did it and it worked out great within 2 weeks they received my letter, canceled my membership and gave me a month extension. Since now they make you pay your first and last month or some crap like that, but yea i can now go to the gym without having to make another payment. I'm good until Dec. 9th. Bally is great though did you know they only freeze your member ship for 4$ per month? and you can do it for up to a year? 0.o that's less then 50$ a year that's saving your rate lol.

Anyway it's a hassle but the letter thing really works. Wow i should like work for them or something. Lol that's what happens when you call there customer service line too much. Here's the number just in case :)

Many contractual obligations require a letter of discontinuance to severe the contract this is also true with governmental communicatiojs that way they have a paper trail should you have legal matters involved all dated and defined.

cheers send a short letter define your canceliation or severing or problems with the service or contract then get a filed lawsuit for the court so the court is aware of your intentions in advance should the

gym or contractor not agree with your severing the contract costs

do it and then use the local TV news abreast of your troubles they are running spots of people h

aving the same trouble and how they helped them to arbitrate the problems and usually the gym will back down refund or severe the costs tied to the contract agreement since these companies can fair no ill public will by doing bad business they tried this in the 80's and again in the 90's in the early 200 to 2005 they had fewer customers willing to sign due to these practices so they try other financial tactics but this seems to be a trend once again.

sue them for your rights; It only costs 27 dollars to file a nbasic contract disputed gym membership and thats allot cheaper than a 300

dollars a minth gym fee for all use.

then learn never sign a long term anything for life is short and long term is for thing like housing and cell phone and cell phones is fallin g off the radar soon.

cheers

yes its true. they want you to write a snail mail to cancel membership. and even then they will still continue to bill you. its easier to cancel your credit card.
No. They just want to make things harder for you because gyms make money that way.
